Classified Technical Program

General

The MILCOM 2021 classified session will be held at the Viasat facility at:

2456 Town Garden Road
Carlsbad, CA 92009

Busses will provide transportation between the conference hotel and the Viasat facility

There will be no phone, computers, PEDs, 2-way pagers or other electronic devices permitted in the conference facility. A table will be provided to check such items before entering the facility.

Bags and backpacks are not permitted in the facility. Purses will be permitted but are subject to random search.

There will be no note taking or recording in the conference facility.

Attendance will be limited to US citizens possessing a Top Secret Clearance.

VIASAT COVID-19 POLICY

  • Fully vaccinated persons are not required to wear a face mask indoors or outdoors. However, social distancing is recommended.
     
  • Non-vaccinated persons are required to wear a mask indoors, outdoors when less than 6’ from someone, and required to social distance at all times that it is practical and possible.

PRESENTATION MATERIALS

Presentation materials shall be limited to SECRET collateral. The discussion is limited to the clearance of the meeting which is TOP SECRET collateral.

There will be no couriering of materials to the conference venue. Please email your secret material to:

wjseman@cybercom.smil.mil

no later than 15 November. This will allow electronic transfer of the material to Viasat and testing the files for readability with sufficient time to correct issues.

Unclassified material that will have a classified voice-over can be emailed to william.semancik@ll.mit.edu.

If those materials are CUI, the materials should be able to be encrypted after an exchange of signed certificates. If issues arise a link will be sent for a secure file transfer system. Short unclassified abstracts are requested by 1 November for posting on the web site.

Directions from I-15
Take I-15 to HWY 78 west. Exist San Marcos Blvd.Turn left and follow it southwest for approximately 5 miles.

  • Turn left onto El Camino Real, then turn left again onto Town Garden Road. P2 is the second parking structure on your left, with a large brown '2' above the entrance. After entering, park on level 'GL'. Walk towards the elevators and you will see your registration table.

Craig Miller, President, Government Systems, Viasat, Inc.

Craig MillerCraig Miller serves as President, Government Systems at Viasat, Inc. In this role, he is responsible for leading the Company’s global defense business, which exceeds $1 billion in annual revenues by delivering cost-effective, innovative solutions to challenging defense requirements in satellite networks, tactical data links, information assurance, and cyber security.

Craig joined Viasat in 1995, and has held numerous technology, business and strategic leadership roles. Prior to serving as President of Government Systems, he was the segment’s Chief Technology Officer where he was responsible for establishing and communicating the technical strategy and roadmaps for a diverse portfolio of defense products and services: including satellite communications, tactical networks, information assurance, cyber/network security and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance.

Craig also launched the Viasat Government Systems Space Business, which created XVI, the first Link 16-enabled LEO satellite; Viasat’s mobile satellite communications gateway systems; and Viasat’s Hybrid Adaptive Network capabilities. In addition to his role within Viasat’s Government Systems business, Craig also worked with the design team of Viasat’s Space and Commercial Networks group, which developed the ViaSat-3 satellite constellation. In this role, he contributed to the design of Viasat’s next-generation satellite communications constellation and served as a liaison between Viasat’s commercial and government business segments.

Prior to Viasat, Craig worked at Hughes Missile Systems Group in Tucson, Arizona, where he was responsible for implementation of Electronic Counter Measures for the AAMRAM Missile System.

Craig holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, with emphasis on Communications and Signal Processing from the University of Arizona.
